Efforts are being made to ensure the project’s timely completion, targeted for 2026-27.

The Mohmand Dam, being constructed on the River Swat, will rank as the world’s fifth-highest and Pakistan’s tallest concrete-faced rock-fill dam (CFRD). Once completed, it will store 1.29 million acre-feet (MAF) of water, enabling the irrigation of 18,237 acres of new farmland in Mohmand and Charsadda and supporting irrigation for an additional 160,000 acres of existing agricultural land. The dam will generate 800 MW of electricity, producing 2.86 billion units annually, and supply 300 million gallons of drinking water daily to Peshawar. The project is projected to deliver annual economic benefits worth Rs. 51.6 billion.
