The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has demonstrated significant progress in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Subject Rankings for 2024-2025, with five academic disciplines achieving improved standings.

The ranked disciplines include Computer Science (501-600), Physical Sciences (501-600), Business and Economics (601-800), Engineering (601-800), and Social Sciences (801-1000). The inclusion of additional fields in the 2025 rankings further highlights IIUI’s expanding global academic footprint.

Strategic Efforts Behind IIUI’s Success

This advancement is credited to the proactive initiatives of the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Development (QAD) under the leadership of Professor Dr. Rahmat Ellahi and the strategic direction set by Vice President of Research and Enterprise, Engr. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed. IIUI has also secured a QS regional ranking of 51 in South Asia and 243 in Asia, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence.

The QS World University Rankings evaluate institutions worldwide based on key performance indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, research citations per faculty, and international diversity. These factors collectively measure a university’s research impact, teaching quality, and global engagement.

A Commitment to Continuous Growth

IIUI’s improved rankings align with the objectives outlined in its Strategic Plan launched in 2020, which emphasizes data-driven improvements and global collaborations to strengthen the university’s academic standing. Despite initial challenges, IIUI has successfully established strong platforms for international visibility, including participation in Green Metrics and Times Higher Education rankings.

While celebrating its progress, IIUI remains focused on further enhancing research impact and fostering international partnerships, ensuring continued growth and a stronger presence in the global academic landscape.
