Government Launches Rs1 Million Loan Initiative to Support Youth Employment Abroad and Education

The Prime Minister Youth Scheme has introduced a groundbreaking initiative that provides financial assistance of up to Rs1 million for individuals seeking employment opportunities abroad. This loan program is designed to cover a range of essential expenses, including professional training, visa processing fees, airfare, travel expenses, and initial settlement costs, ensuring that young Pakistanis have the financial support needed to embark on their international careers successfully.

Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Program, highlighted that this initiative is a strategic step toward empowering the country’s youth by creating better economic prospects and equipping them with the resources to compete in the global job market. He emphasized that facilitating employment abroad will not only help individuals improve their financial standing but also contribute to Pakistan’s economy through remittances.

The Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme has already made a significant impact, with more than Rs186 billion disbursed to young entrepreneurs, professionals, and business owners. This substantial financial support reflects the program’s success and the confidence of Pakistan’s youth in government-backed initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and professional development.

In a significant expansion of the scheme, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that, beyond business loans, students can now access laptop loans to support their educational journey. A notification issued on Tuesday confirms that students aged 18 to 30, enrolled in institutions recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), are eligible for these loans. This initiative is intended to bridge the digital divide, ensuring that students have access to the technology necessary for academic excellence, research, and skill development in an increasingly digital world.

The overarching goal of these measures is to enhance both educational and professional development opportunities, equipping young Pakistanis with the skills and resources needed to excel in local and international job markets. By investing in education, training, and employment facilitation, the government aims to strengthen the country’s human capital and boost economic stability.

Additionally, the government is exploring further reforms to expand the scope of the program, with a focus on increasing access to funding, simplifying application procedures, and introducing new initiatives that align with the evolving needs of the youth. These efforts are expected to create more employment and educational opportunities, reduce financial barriers, and promote sustainable economic growth, ensuring that Pakistan’s youth can contribute meaningfully to national and global progress.
