Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, stated on Wednesday that Pakistan and Hungary share strong and friendly relations based on mutual democratic values.
He expressed these remarks during a meeting with the Hungarian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Béla Fazekas, at the Parliament House, as per an official news release.
Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the significant potential for expanding trade relations and increasing connectivity between the two countries. He emphasized that enhanced parliamentary engagements would play a crucial role in fostering closer ties between the people of Pakistan and Hungary.
The meeting covered various aspects of bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on trade, education, and parliamentary collaboration. Ayaz Sadiq stressed the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary exchanges, stating that such initiatives would serve as a bridge for building stronger relationships between the two nations. He also called for the Pakistan-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group to be made more dynamic and effective to facilitate meaningful dialogue and cooperation.
Recognizing the role of education in long-term bilateral collaboration, the Speaker appreciated Hungary’s efforts in providing educational scholarships to Pakistani students. He suggested further expanding academic exchange programs to deepen educational cooperation.
On economic ties, Ayaz Sadiq pointed out untapped opportunities in trade and investment, advocating for a strategic and mutually beneficial partnership. He urged both countries to explore new avenues of collaboration to address regional and global challenges.
Ambassador Béla Fazekas echoed these views and reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and educational partnerships with Pakistan. He highlighted connectivity as a key factor in regional and global development.
The Ambassador also expressed optimism about the upcoming visit of a Pakistani parliamentary delegation to Hungary, led by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, believing it would further reinforce the ties between the two nations. Additionally, he stressed the importance of increasing parliamentary engagements and confirmed Hungary’s willingness to collaborate on initiatives that promote mutual interests.
