Pakistani security forces have apprehended four terrorists who illegally crossed over from Afghanistan during an operation near the Pak-Afghan border in Balochistan, security sources disclosed on Thursday.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday in Toba Kakri, where authorities seized Kalashnikov rifles, hand grenades, and various other weapons from the detained militants. During initial questioning, the suspects confessed to planning a significant attack within Pakistan, further confirming the issue of cross-border infiltration.
According to sources, there has been an increasing trend of Afghan nationals engaging in terrorist activities in Pakistan, with militant groups reportedly receiving support from the Afghan Taliban. One of the arrested individuals, identified as Isamuddin, son of Gulshad, admitted that he and three others entered Pakistan three days prior and later traveled to Pishin.
Local residents played a pivotal role in helping security forces apprehend the suspects. The captured militants have since been moved to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
In the past, Pakistani forces have neutralized multiple Afghan terrorists, including Khakri Badruddin, the son of the governor of Afghanistan’s Badghis province, and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, a commander at the Hazrat Muaz bin Jabal National Military Academy in Afghanistan, who was killed on February 28.
Defense analysts have commended the growing public resistance against terrorism but expressed alarm over Afghanistan becoming a safe haven for militant groups. They called for urgent international intervention, criticizing the Afghan interim government for remaining silent despite Pakistan presenting repeated evidence of terrorist activities.
