PTI Moves Lahore High Court Seeking Approval for Minar-e-Pakistan Rally on March 22

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking approval to organize a public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 22. The party argues that its constitutional right to peaceful assembly is being obstructed by delays in official approvals.

The petition was submitted by PTI leader Akmal Khan Bari, listing the Punjab Chief Secretary, Lahore Deputy Commissioner, and other senior officials as respondents. PTI states that it intends to hold the rally from 8 PM to midnight, highlighting its importance for political engagement and public outreach.

According to the plea, PTI had formally requested permission from the local administration but has not yet received a response. The party claims that the lack of a timely decision suggests an attempt to prevent the gathering. The petition further argues that such delays violate democratic principles and citizens’ rights under the Constitution of Pakistan.

In light of these concerns, PTI has urged the Lahore High Court to intervene and direct the relevant authorities to process their request without further delay. The party insists that its gathering will be peaceful and conducted in accordance with the law, emphasizing that undue restrictions on political activities undermine democratic freedoms.
