Director General Nursing Punjab, Tahira Shahid, lauded the efforts of Nursing College Attock for its remarkable contribution to providing high-quality education to nurses and lady health visitors (LHVs), preparing them to effectively meet the challenges of modern healthcare.
During an unannounced visit to the institution, Tahira Shahid, accompanied by Tanzeela, Controller of the Nursing Examination Board Punjab, inspected various departments and classrooms. She interacted directly with trainee nurses and LHVs to assess the educational environment and facilities available to them. She expressed her satisfaction with the college’s performance, particularly its achievement of a 100% success rate in the recent annual nursing examinations. The DG praised Principal Naveeda Iqbal and the teaching staff for their dedication and hard work, encouraging them to sustain this high level of achievement.
The DG took note of the ongoing renovation work at the college, commending the improvements made so far. She approved funding for further enhancements, including the provision of a reliable water supply to the nursing hostel and renovations of the staff quarters. A significant development announced during her visit was the establishment of an examination center for LHVs within the college. This move aims to ease the burden on students who currently travel to Rawalpindi for exams, bringing greater convenience and accessibility to the process.
To celebrate the outstanding performance of the batch that secured 100% results, Tahira Shahid approved a recreational picnic trip for the students. She also announced the introduction of new academic programs, including Post-RN courses and specialization programs in pediatrics, gynecology, and obstetrics. These additions will further enhance the college’s reputation and expand opportunities for students to gain advanced skills and qualifications.
During her visit, the DG engaged in a detailed briefing by Principal Naveeda Iqbal, who highlighted the college’s achievements, facilities, and the challenges it faces. Issues such as resource constraints and the need for further infrastructure improvements were discussed, and Tahira Shahid assured the college administration of her full support in addressing these challenges.
This visit underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening nursing education and providing the necessary resources to ensure the highest standards of healthcare training in Punjab.
