Organized by the community-driven initiative Islamabad Run with Us (IRU), founded by brothers Qasim and Hashim Naz in 2016, this year’s marathon promises to be a landmark occasion in Pakistan’s sports history. The 2025 edition marks the fifth full marathon in IRU’s prestigious series, drawing interest from running enthusiasts worldwide.
Over 3,000 participants, including a significant number of international runners from Europe and the United States, are expected to take part. A robust presence of Islamabad’s diplomatic community further enhances the global appeal of the event. Featuring multiple race categories such as a 5km fun run, a 10km race, a half marathon (21.1km), and the full marathon spanning 42.2km, the event caters to athletes of varying skill levels. Additionally, a dedicated children’s race has been introduced to encourage healthy habits among kids under 12.
“The Islamabad Marathon has evolved into much more than a race—it’s a vibrant celebration of fitness, unity, and cultural diversity,” said Qasim Naz, co-founder of IRU, in a statement to APP. “We are ecstatic to welcome participants from diverse backgrounds, all united by their passion for running and wellness,” he added.
The event is designed to go beyond the track, offering an immersive experience for families and supporters. Attendees can explore an array of food stalls featuring local and international cuisines, participate in interactive games, and enjoy activities that create a festive ambiance.
