KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur Ordered Arrested in Arms and Liquor Case

The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has issued a directive for the immediate arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, in connection with allegations of illegal possession of arms and liquor. This case has gained widespread attention due to the involvement of a high-ranking political figure and the serious nature of the charges. Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti, who is overseeing the matter, expressed strong displeasure over the repeated non-appearances of both Gandapur and his legal counsel, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, at the court hearings.

The court’s frustration was further compounded by the SSP Operations’ failure to submit a compliance report regarding an earlier arrest warrant issued against Gandapur. Judge Chishti highlighted the lack of accountability in adhering to court orders, stating that such disregard for judicial directives undermines the rule of law. He firmly emphasized the necessity of compliance, declaring that continued negligence would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In response to the situation, the court directed the SSP Operations to ensure Gandapur’s immediate detention and his presentation before the court by the next hearing, scheduled for January 21, 2025. The judge warned that any further delays or non-compliance by the authorities would lead to serious consequences. This strong stance by the court reflects the growing demand for transparency and accountability, especially when dealing with influential individuals.

The case revolves around allegations of the recovery of illegal arms and liquor, sparking significant legal and political debate within the region. It has raised broader questions about the accountability of high-ranking officials and the challenges faced by the judiciary in pursuing justice in politically sensitive cases. The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications, setting a precedent for how allegations against prominent political figures are handled in Pakistan’s legal system.
