Pakistan Railways Announces Special Eid Trains and Fare Discounts to Facilitate Travelers

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi has announced that Pakistan Railways will operate four special trains to accommodate the surge of passengers traveling for Eidul Fitr. While addressing the media in Islamabad, he also introduced a 20% discount on fares for Eid travelers, aiming to provide financial relief to passengers during the festive season.

Eidul Fitr is a time when millions of people return to their hometowns to celebrate with their families, significantly increasing the demand for transportation. Private transport operators often raise fares due to high demand, making it difficult for many to afford travel. In contrast, train services offer a more budget-friendly and comfortable alternative, especially for families traveling together. The additional trains are expected to ease congestion and provide greater convenience to passengers.

To further facilitate travelers during Ramadan, Pakistan Railways has temporarily adjusted the operating hours of its reservation offices. According to an official notification issued on February 28, the revised timings are:

  • Morning Shift: 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Evening Shift: 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Offices that operate on a single shift will continue with their regular schedule. These adjusted timings will remain in effect until the 15th of Ramadan, after which standard working hours will resume.

The initiative is designed to enhance passenger convenience and support railway staff in managing operations more efficiently during the holy month. By introducing special trains, fare reductions, and schedule adjustments, Pakistan Railways aims to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for citizens celebrating Eid with their loved ones.
