PM Shehbaz Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia, Highlights Diplomatic Efforts and Economic Progress

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, stressing that the kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would never be compromised. He made these remarks while addressing a federal cabinet meeting, where he discussed his recent diplomatic engagements and Pakistan’s economic progress.

Diplomatic Outreach and Palestine Crisis

During his address, PM Shehbaz detailed his recent visit to Dubai, where he attended the Dubai Summit and forcefully advocated for Pakistan’s position on Palestine. He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and an end to the humanitarian crisis, condemning the large-scale loss of life. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause at every international forum.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Investment Opportunities

During his visit, the prime minister held crucial discussions with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. The meeting, also attended by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, focused on deepening bilateral relations, investment opportunities, and economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE. PM Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s desire to attract foreign investment, highlighting key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and technology.

Additionally, he represented Pakistan at the World Governments Summit, where he held high-level talks with the top leadership of Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Bosnia, and the Ruler of Dubai. These discussions revolved around regional cooperation, economic partnerships, and strengthening diplomatic relations.

IMF Engagement and Economic Progress

PM Shehbaz also met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation in Dubai, where he discussed Pakistan’s economic policies and financial stability. He revealed that the IMF’s Managing Director appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in stabilizing its economy and implementing necessary reforms.

He also engaged with Pakistani investors in Dubai, encouraging them to explore new investment opportunities in Pakistan. The premier reassured them that the government was taking concrete measures to improve the business climate and facilitate investors.

Surge in Remittances

Expressing satisfaction over the rising confidence of overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economy, PM Shehbaz announced that remittances had reached a record $3 billion last month. He attributed this significant increase to the government’s prudent economic policies and facilitation of financial transactions through official channels.

Humanitarian Concerns and Condemnation of Violence in Palestine

The prime minister expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, lamenting the deaths of approximately 50,000 innocent civilians due to the ongoing conflict. He strongly condemned the genocide and reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance in favor of an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people.

Upcoming Visit of Turkish President Erdogan

PM Shehbaz also announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would soon visit Pakistan, calling it a visit of immense significance. He praised Erdogan as one of the most influential leaders in the Islamic world and emphasized that Pakistan and Turkey would sign a series of agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral trade, defense cooperation, and economic partnerships.

Addressing Domestic Challenges

On the Libyan boat tragedy, which resulted in the deaths of several Pakistanis attempting to migrate illegally, PM Shehbaz expressed deep sorrow and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to curbing human trafficking. He emphasized the need for stringent measures to dismantle illegal migration networks and protect Pakistani citizens from falling victim to such dangerous journeys.

Vision for Pakistan’s Future

Concluding his remarks, the prime minister emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to economic growth, diplomatic outreach, and humanitarian efforts. He reiterated the government’s determination to strengthen the economy, build strong international partnerships, and safeguard the interests of the nation both domestically and on the global stage.
