Senator Irfan Siddiqui Meets Maulana Fazlur Rehman to Discuss Progress in National Negotiations

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, acting as the spokesperson for the government’s negotiation committee, held a meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday to provide an update on the status and progress of the ongoing negotiations. The discussion revolved around key national issues and the importance of fostering political dialogue to address them.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that dialogue among political parties is not just a choice but a vital component of a thriving democracy. He pointed out that avoiding meaningful discussions or promoting division within the political landscape undermines the foundational principles of democratic governance. He urged all stakeholders to prioritize engagement and collaboration, warning that discord and isolation would only exacerbate the country’s challenges.

The JUI-F chief further stressed the urgency of resolving critical national matters through mutual understanding and cooperation, highlighting that Pakistan is currently in dire need of political stability and national unity. He argued that achieving these objectives is impossible without fostering harmony and consensus among political forces.

In response, Senator Siddiqui expressed appreciation for Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proactive and constructive approach to addressing national issues. He specifically acknowledged the JUI-F chief’s instrumental role in resolving the complex matter of registering religious seminaries, which had been a contentious issue for years. Senator Siddiqui praised the peaceful and cooperative methods employed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, which have contributed significantly to easing tensions and facilitating progress in this area.

Both leaders reiterated the importance of maintaining open channels of communication and working collectively to steer the country toward a more stable and prosperous future.
