Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has instructed authorities to strictly regulate the prices of essential goods and crack down on hoarders and profiteers to provide relief to the public during Ramazan.
During a high-level meeting in Karachi on Monday, he emphasized the need for stringent price control measures and directed divisional commissioners to ensure that vendors comply with government-approved rates. He also stressed the importance of maintaining an uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the holy month to facilitate citizens, particularly during Sehri and Iftar.
Officials briefed the chief minister that over 250 Bachat Bazaars have been set up across Karachi, offering essential food items such as flour, sugar, rice, pulses, fruits, and vegetables at discounted prices. Additionally, he urged authorities to conduct regular market inspections and take legal action against those involved in price gouging and artificial shortages.
The chief minister reaffirmed his commitment to easing the financial burden on the people during Ramazan, instructing officials to remain vigilant and ensure that relief measures reach the masses effectively.
